Mo’ money, mo’ problems! Legit, I’ll take ALL the problems if it means I get ALL the greenbacks to go with em’!
I don’t know about you, but one day I plan to be truly wealthy (sooner rather than later). Ain’t no shame in my game!
Last time I checked, it took resources (ie. money) to do things like take exotic vacations and create lasting memories, or enjoy fancy dinners, or see all the amazing shows on the Las Vegas strip VIP, or enjoy a game from the sky box, or drag all of the besties on an EPIC all expenses paid multi-continent adventure, or give gobs of money to your fave charity…it all takes dinero.
Rich People Know HOW to spend their money (insert “spending plan”)
So what the heck does a spending plan, ie. “budget”, have to do with living the lifestyle of the rich and famous??? EVERYTHING!!!
Now now, don’t go dismissing me just yet. I know what you’re thinking, because I used to feel the same way.
“Why budget when I make more than enough money to pay my and YOUR bills?!?”
“Budgets are a waste of time and just make me feel restricted.”
“Budgets are uber boring and tedious!”
…and my personal fave…
“Budgets are for broke folks…and I am far from broke.”
Yep, I used to think the same way until I realized that I don’t want to be just comfortable, I want to be financially free…wealthy type free! Never work for anyone else again type free… filthy stinking rich type of free.
It takes a plan, a strategy, plain and simple. Budgeting is nothing more than a strategy to attain and grow wealth.
Attempting to build wealth without a real plan is like going to the grocery store when you’re hangry as a mofo with NO list. Exactly…it doesn’t work.
You end up in the check out aisle with every cookie, cake, and chip bag known to man! Not that I know from experience or anything.

Have you ever set a New Year’s resolution to lose weight???
Yea, me too…
Then about halfway through January you totally lose steam, the newness and excitement of your goal starts to wear off and alllll those treats you bought on your failed grocery shopping trip start to look super tasty.
This is NOT a coincidence, it’s NOT a lack of self-discipline or will power, but it IS a failure to plan!
Your likelihood of hitting your weight goal would have increased 100 fold if it was backed by a solid strategy. (ie. meal planning, meal prepping, hiring a personal trainer, tracking what you eat)
Similarly, just because you pick a destination for your road trip, doesn’t mean you just hop in the car and go…well most people don’t…unless you’re my special hubby *side stare*, read endless hours of driving in circles.
You take the time to map out how you’re gonna get there, your pit stops and stay overs, and what you want to see on your way.
Otherwise a two week trip would turn into a two month adventure in being lost and you may NEVER get to your final destination!!! #ain’tnobodygottimeforthat
To be honest, if you have no strategy or plan in place, I can guarantee you that 100% of the time you will NEVER hit your goal…kiss them c-notes buh BYE!!!
“Those that fail to plan, plan to fail”-unknown
Here’s the thing, when you think of a budget in the typical sense, most people see it as a tool to slash and cut their expenses. Let’s be real here, there’s only so much cutting you can do…and you’re not going to become uber rich by living on pennies.
But you can become obscenely wealthy by being aware of what your money is doing and being intentional about telling your money what to do! Learn how to spend your money well.
I guarantee you that a well executed spending plan will fast track your journey to bankroll city by bringing crazy awareness!
You absolutely gotta know your numbers!
This allows you to have laser beam focus…you can get surgical with your wealth creation strategy. Because…
We all know the saying that knowledge is power…well whoever said it was 100% right. Knowledge gives you the power to make the best decisions, period. And the only way to build true wealth is by knowing your numbers!
Think about it, massive giants like Apple aren’t sitting on a $260 BILLION dollar cash stack by ignoring their numbers. You can bet your pretty head they have TEAMS devoted to knowing the company’s numbers inside and out.
If #teamApple can’t get away with financial ignorance, neither can you!
Look at it this way, your bank account is like a dam (the water kind), a reservoir for your water (ie. dinero). If a dam is not monitored and maintained it will develop small leaks here and there, allowing water to drain away unnoticed.
You see where I am going with this?
Having a spending plan shows you exactly HOW you spend your money, because if you aren’t paying attention to the HOW, you will end up with little cracks here and there in the “dam”…constantly draining away your moolah! Um no, plug up the stupid leaks!
What do I mean by this?
Have you ever notice that the bigger the purse or wallet you buy, you find the more stuff you fill it with and one day realize you need an even bigger wallet/purse…then you wash, rinse, repeat???
We do the same thing with our money, if we are not careful.
Make more $$$ → Spend more $$$.
Don’t let your money creep…
A spending plan keeps you attuned to your spending habits, you know where your cash is at all times and it puts you in control of what it gets allocated to…so feel free to keep sucking down those pumpkin spice lattes (ie. leaks).
Now don’t get me wrong, if your current priority is to buy Jimmy Choos and drip with ice, then have at it! There is nothing wrong with that, do you boo thang. And I’m not telling you that you can’t have Jimmy’s AND financial wealth…
What I AM telling you is that if you want both, then you have to PLAN for both! You’re being intentional with your spending.
When you’re ready to 10X your wealth, you make better decisions. Being the smart cookie that you are, you have a plan, you KNOW your numbers, and you shift your spending to align with your desire to create wealth. You choose to defund the Starbucks budget and increase your spending on assets that pour back into the money pot.
I’ll say it again, when your pile of dough can give Pillsbury a run for its money, your focus is NOT on cutting expenses. You have no need to, but you SHOULD be focused on creating and increasing your income. It’s not a plan to pay bills, but a plan to get rich!!!
You want to get rich? Learn how to spend your money! #spendingplan #fullstop
